Corrata security for mobile devices

In the push for private 4G & 5G networks, mobile device security / Mobile Threat Management (MTM) needs to be assigned a high priority by both Integrators and Operators of private networks given the potential risks involved.

Just last week, new phishing malware has been detected on android devices in Japan, Fake Cop, has the potential do damage private mobile networks & devices that are not adequately protected.

Even if the malware/Phishing/smishing attacks cannot happen while the devices are attached to the private mobile network, there is always the risk that the devices are used outside the private mobile network on a public mobile network or some WiFi network where they will be exposed. Then after the malware is downloaded, the devices can still re-attached to their private network causing both problems and spreading the malware to other devices within the private network.

Next steps

At JIT, we have been collaborating with Corrata for using their Immune system for mobile in conjunction with our Access Control Server for private 4G/5G mobile networks to ensure both devices are secure and suspect devices can be temporarily disabled. In this case, Devices/Mobile Phones using the Corrata Immune system automatically detected the FakeCop virus and prevented them from being infected.
